The Open
Last year, St Andrews, despite the weather, served up a thrilling climax. Spieth went so close to achieving the Slam, the amateur Paul Dunne teed up on the final day with a winning chance, but it was the praying Zach Johnson who lifted the Claret Jug.

Rory was absence, not due to any Scottish virus but rather a freak football injury.

Dustin arrives as US Open Champion having broke his duck, inspiration for Lee & Sergio or the usual Sunday putting meltdown?

Troon has been kind for the Yanks, which stats men may want to note:
1962: Arnold Palmer
1973: Tom Weiskopk
1982: Tom Watson
1989: Mark Calcavecchia
1997: Justin Leonard
2004: Todd Hamilton

USA, USA,USA!!

Should we be looking at a big Priced Yankee winner? Or will we see another Danny Willett emerge a Major winner?

My Picks:
Ricky 33/1
Shane: 50/1
Oostie: 50/1
Jimmy Walker: 150/1

Certainty: RAIN.

Let’s hope they get it finished on the Sunday this time.

Re: The Open
That git Johnson beat the bloke I'd backed in the play off last year, meaning I'm still on only 1 backed major winner from the start, as I never do them E/W.

Plenty of in running's, though those odds are crap!

Not had a look or decided yet, though it's generally a case of picking out someone between 33-40/1.

Re: The Open

great story is Matthew Southgate. Proper emotional stuff at the Irish Open. Hope he goes well.

Having an early look at some big priced yanks - Tony FINAU, Billy HORSCHEL and particularly Harris ENGLISH look big.

Have you got a link to that mate? Can't seem to find it on the website, I am on my phone though, don't know if that's why I can't see it?

What do people think of Westwood's chances?

Re: The Open
1993, it explains the offer on this link mate. I haven't done it myself but it does look good though may only be available for your first bet?

westwood looked great at the Masters and just needs a decent last round to get over the line, 50/1's a good bet

Re: The Open
Westwood can't chip and can't putt. 50s is a decent price, tee to green he's had a good year, but wouldn't fancy him around the greens. He's got nice new teeth though.

Cheers Mike.

Would you mind WhoMailing me that link as all betting is blocked at my work so I can't get on it till later?

Re: The Open
hahaha, yes him and a putter on sunday are enemies. I've backed Justin a few times recently and he seems to have the same problems

Re: The Open
All about fairways and greens in links golf.

Mickelson hasn't had a sniff of anything for about 2 years, but could be worth an EW dabble.

Sergio will also almost certainly put in a performance at about 30/1, so should offer value for the full 4 days.

Branden Grace is also worth a look. Half his wins have come in Links golf, so shouldn't be ignored.

Plus of course, you've got Jason Day who will rightly be the favourite. This he's overpriced at 9's as well.

Would be interested in Spieth's odds at missing the cut. Cant find a fairway for love nor money. You can get away with it on the PGA courses, but a links course you are in big trouble. Anyone that back him (or McIlroy) at 12/1 is a lunatic.

yes, will do it now. there's a clickable link on that site's page and takes you to the offer

andy, I shortlisted Grace but 22/1 for me is taking the piss

Re: The Open
Yeah, last time I checked he was about 25's. It is really short I agree. Just depends on whether you fancy him or not thought I suppose - 40's would probably be fairer.

Re: The Open
Tyrrell Hatton 125/1 - finished 2nd yesterday in the Scottish Open which is the warm up event.

Plays at my local club, nice guy if not a bit arrogant, but I suppose you have to be.

Just earnt €462k for a 4 days work - not bad for a 24 yr old! ;-)
